Bankable ABB Solar Inverters for Large-Scale PV Power Plants

15.2 MWp PV power plant in Mauritius powered by ABB PVS800 central inverters

Bankability is of extreme importance when choosing a solar inverter supplier, especially for large-scale PV plants. ABB solar inverters meet all bankability requirements, making them a confident choise that you can trust.

Powerful central inverters with global support

ABB’s offering for large-scale PV power plants includes the PVS800 and ULTRA central inverter series, ranging from 100 kW to 1,500 kW with high efficiency, proven components and a compact design.

The PVS800 central inverter offers high total efficiency in a compact and easy-to-maintain design. The high maximum efficiency of 98.8%, with high efficiency at partial loads gives a European Efficiency of 98.6%. The inverters’ low auxiliary power consumption together with its modular and serviceable design ensures high uptime and high total yield. Integrated AC and modular DC input sections provide wide flexibility for system integrators as well as savings on cost and installation time.

Also, thanks to their certificates and advanced, flexible grid-support functions, ABB central inverters meet all applicable network connection requirements. PVS800 series central inverters are available from 100 kW to 1,000 kW.

ABB’s Ultra series central inverter is a liquid-cooled, high-powered outdoor inverter in a compact chassis giving maximum power for minimum footprint. Power conversion efficiencies of up to 98.7%, combined with high-speed Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) channels optimize energy harvesting across a wide array of operating conditions. Up to four independent MPPT input channels offer maximum flexibility and energy harvesting. This large inverter system significantly reduces the wiring requirements and on-site testing, thanks to the presence of separated and dedicated compartments for DC and AC. Ultra central inverters are available from 700 kW to 1,500 kW.

Turnkey solutions for large-scale solar power generation

ABB turnkey solutions capitalize on ABB’s long expertise in the development and manufacturing of secondary substations and medium voltage (MV) components. ABB solutions include complete plug-and-play housings with inverters and MV components, inverter stations for indoor inverters, as well as separate MV stations to supplement the outdoor inverters and inverter stations.

ABB’s PVS800-MWS megawatt station, made entirely with ABB components, is a turnkey solution with up to 1.25 MW of power designed for easy transportability and rapid plug-and-play setup of the site. The ABB’s PVS800-IS inverter station is a compact and transportable 2 MW solution for rapid deliveries and with broad connectivity. For ULTRA outdoor inverters, ABB offers various optimized skid solutions from 700 kW to 3 MW.
